What is a PATH?
A PATH is a planning process — for individuals, schools, families, groups, and businesses — that brings people together to address a common issue or difficult problem. PATH begins with defining a vision and sharing a dream for the future. The process begins with forming a caring team whose purpose is to build a common understanding and create the needed support. The team then identifies the steps that must be taken to make that dream come true.

Hey Kit!
That’s a big plan you’ve got going on there. I heard lots of great ideas and dreams for your future – running your own business, being part of a hockey team, being involved with an orchestra and more. How is the plan working so far? Have your dreams and goals been incorporated into your IEP for your final year at school? I think it’s been about a year since this video was made, so are you involved in transition planning and an exit strategy right now? Have you found an after-school job, and has Mum found you a place with a hot tub and some cool room mates yet? You’re planning the life of every guy’s dreams!!
How did the path planning help you achieve your goals, and has the funding that you need to make them work been available? Your Mum mentioned applying for PWD benefits… is that still in process or is it finalised already? I have heard it can take quite some time.
Well, Mr Horrocks has a big assignment for me to work on so I had better sign off for now. I hope you have a great weekend, and that it stays dry.
Will check in again soon to see how things are working out.
Best wishes,
Fiona

Wow, what a great PATH you have there for yourself Kit! You are very lucky to have a wonderful group of friends and family members that care so much for you!
I can see that you have a lot of ambition which is very important. At your age, I did not know exactly what I wanted to do with my life, what my future could look like and wish I could have had a PATH to help me figure things out!
Please, as Fiona already mentioned, I would love to find out where you are at right now, and how things are going for you?
I wish you all the best and hope nothing will stop you to achieve all your dreams!
Never forget that we only live once!
Best!

Way to go Kit! This must be such an exciting time in your life! Keep at it and never give up on yourself man. What do you think is going to be the biggest challenge for you in your adult life? What are you most excited for? In class we have learned a bit about the difficulties people face when transitioning out of high school into the community living system. How have you found this system/process? What is your first impression? Has you utilization of the PATH process made this all easier for you? I would love to get your perspective.
Hoping all the best for your future.
Sincerely,
Alex Bourbeau

I have a couple of questions for Kit’s Mum. Are you happy with the results from Kits’ PATH?
Can you tell me a little bit about how this experience has benfitied Kit and those involved? Has it been a positve experience?

It seems that you have a class assignment to keep track of this blog!
Yes, we have some great ideas for Kit's future but it is all dependent upon CLBC funding. Kit will be 19 in the summer and eligible for adult programs. We have been communicating with CLBC for a couple of years and have a good Facilitator who we have met several times, I have written a detailed plan for Kit's future and it has been passed to a CLBC Analyst to be scored and hopefully funded. We were told to expect an answer perhaps in May or June. It will be a long wait.
Until then, nothing can be planned with certainty unless we have the time, energy and funds to do it ourselves.

Hi Kit,
Hope your doing well…… It looks like you sure do have a great support system! Your visions for the future look great, You seem to have a great PATH in place, after graduation I had no idea what I wanted to do, so good for you!
One question I have for you Kit, is how did the PATH process make you feel. Did you find yourself excited for the future or did it bring up any fears for yourself?
PS I say travel if you get the opportunity to…………
Best of Luck to you!

Hi Kit,
Congratulations on graduation 🙂
Just a few questions for you regarding your PATH. I was just wondering where you keep your PATH? is it something you have up to keep you motivated throughout the day or does it come out during the meetings?. Also is it everything you thought it would be or more?
Thank you, best wishes,
Siobhan

Hi Kit,
Congrats again on graduation!!
I had some questions come to mind for you when I was watching the 2nd part of your PATH video, How is your advertising company coming along? are you enjoying working on getting everything set up for this amazing business of yours? The other question I had is have you had time to look into the volunteer work you were interested in getting involved with? or if not what kind of volunteer work do you think you might want to persue in the future? Thanks again for taking the time to respond to all of our questions.
Best Wishes,
Brandi
P.S. I second the motion to travel!!
